Press Release - Lumber Exporter Certification
UNIVERSAL REEL ANNOUNCES LUMBER EXPORTER CERTIFICATION
Universal Reel & Recycling Inc. is proud to announce their approval as a Certified Lumber Exporter in compliance with the Canadian Wood Packaging Certification Program. This program was instituted in an effort to prevent the import of the Pinewood Nematode Beetle into Europe and Asia, and is administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Universal Reel achieved certification by submitting an application with a Quality Plan that outlined the following required points: Wood Source, Wood Flow, Document Retention, Corrective Action and Training. The application was followed by a Plant Inspection, at which time approval was granted and a Certification Stamp Number and design were issued to Universal Reel & Recycling Inc. Approval is based on the ability of the company to supply Certified lumber used in their products exported to the European Union and China. Certified Lumber has been heat-treated or kiln dried to a temperature of 56^o C for a minimum of 30 minutes.
